Harris ’s DoD Skill Bridge is connecting transitioning service members to career training opportunities within our organization. We will provide service members with valuable civilian work experience through industry specific training, certifications and on the job experience during their DoD Skill Bridge internship to help them ready themselves for their next mission.

To be eligible for DoD Skill Bridge job opportunities, you must be an active member of the U.S. military with 180 days of service or fewer remaining prior to your date of separation and have at least 180 continuous days of active service.

The Aircraft Maintenance position plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational safety and efficiency of aircraft. This position involves extensive hands‑on work in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing aircraft to ensure compliance with safety regulations and performance standards.

• Performs maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re‑assembly or adjustment of various aircraft components in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations.
• Conduct thorough inspections to identify any wear, tear, or damage, and carry out necessary repairs.
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot and resolve aircraft system issues.
• Adhere to maintenance manuals, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements during all maintenance activities.
• Document all maintenance activities accurately in maintenance logs and records.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and provide feedback on aircraft performance and any issues encountered.
• Ensure that all tools, materials, and equipment are calibrated correctly and maintained in good working condition.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance maintenance processes and practices.
• Performs flightline operations, aircraft inspections, or repairs, sometimes in confined spaces and inclement weather.

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post‑secondary/associate’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
• Requires experience in aircraft maintenance on C‑130, preferably with a focus on complex mechanical and avionics systems.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering documentation.
• Ability to obtain certification to operate self‑propelled vehicles such as forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, aircraft support equipment, and towing vehicles.
• Proficiency with aircraft maintenance software and diagnostic tools.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on‑call shifts.
• Ability to climb, including ladders, stairs, and portable stands and navigate these with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to lift objects, up to 30 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to pass a flightline physical.
• Ability to obtain and maintain clearance required.
• Must have required tools prior to starting work; tool list will be provided.

• FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification preferred.
• Experience with a variety of aircraft models that the company operates, such as C‑130, P‑8A, G550, etc.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills with a focus on avionics and electrical systems.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with engineers, customers, and other maintenance staff.
