Our DoD Skill Bridge program connects transitioning service members to career training opportunities. Through specialized training, certifications, and on‑the‑job experience, participants gain valuable civilian work exposure to prepare them for their next mission.
EligibilityMust be an active U.S. military member with 180 days of service or fewer remaining before separation, and at least 180 continuous days of active service.
Job DescriptionThe Aircraft Maintenance position ensures operational safety and efficiency of aircraft through inspection, maintenance, and repair to meet safety regulations and performance standards.
Essential Functions- Maintain, disassemble, rework, repair, replace, re‑assemble, or adjust aircraft components per technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations.
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify wear, tear, or damage and perform necessary repairs.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot and resolve aircraft system issues.
- Adhere to maintenance manuals, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements during all activities.
- Document all maintenance activities accurately in logs and records.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and provide feedback on aircraft performance and issues encountered.
- Ensure all tools, materials, and equipment are calibrated and maintained in good working condition.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance maintenance processes.
- Perform flightline operations, inspections, or repairs in confined spaces and inclement weather.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least 6 years of relevant experience, or Associate’s Degree with at least 2 years of related experience.
- Experience in aircraft maintenance on C‑130, especially with complex mechanical and avionics systems.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering documentation.
- Certification to operate self‑propelled vehicles (forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, aircraft support equipment, towing vehicles).
- Proficiency with aircraft maintenance software and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on‑call shifts.
- Physical ability to climb ladders, stairs, portable stands, and navigate with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Physical ability to lift objects up to 30 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to pass a flightline physical examination.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required clearance.
- Must have necessary tools before starting work; a tool list will be provided and tools will be shadowed and engraved. L3
Harris will provide materials upon hire.
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification preferred.
- Experience with various aircraft models such as C‑130, P‑8A, G550.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills focused on avionics and electrical systems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Capability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with engineers, customers, and maintenance staff.
