Manager, Mechanical Engineering – Aircraft

POSITION OVERVIEW
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of approximately 12 Mechanical Engineers.
- Oversee mechanical design and integration activities for aircraft system upgrades and structural modifications.
- Manage designs involving primary and secondary aircraft structures, electrical equipment racks, and external antenna installations.
- Ensure 3D CAD designs, engineering drawings, and design reviews meet military and commercial standards, customer specifications, and system requirements.
- Provide technical oversight and engineering judgment for structural layouts, aircraft modifications, and liaison engineering activities.
- Manage resource planning, workload forecasting, job assignments, and manpower estimates.
- Monitor project status and support bid and proposal efforts while maintaining cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
- Maintain and improve mechanical engineering processes to support efficiency and innovation.
- Manage team performance through goal setting, coaching, training, and annual reviews.
- Promote a safe, positive, collaborative, and inclusive engineering environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering with a minimum of 9 years of related experience.
- Graduate degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, and/or Systems Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of related experience is a plus.
- In lieu of a degree, 13+ years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 4 years of experience with mechanical design principles involving aircraft structures and components.
- Minimum 4 years of experience modifying aircraft primary and secondary structures.
- Minimum 1 year of managerial experience with direct reports.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to coach, train, motivate, and manage technical personnel.
- Experience managing complex engineering activities while meeting cost and schedule objectives.
- Strong engineering judgment, attention to detail, listening skills, and ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Active Secret security clearance is preferred.
- Ability and willingness to relocate to Waco, TX and work fully onsite.
