Mobile Phlebotomist- Waco

Role

The Mobile Phlebotomist, under the general supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, works to provide clinical pre-analytical laboratory services to our clients and patients in a mobile setting. The role involves completing assigned routes safely and promptly while following all company policies and procedures.

• Drive the company vehicle to client facilities, typically nursing homes, as directed by the dispatcher or supervisor.
• Unload the phlebotomy tray and transport it to the patient’s bedside to collect samples ordered by physicians.
• Accurately identify patients before collecting specimens.
• Collect, label, process, and deliver patient specimens in accordance with standard procedures.
• Reload equipment and specimens into the vehicle for prompt delivery.
• Communicate regularly with the dispatcher to report status and location.
• Maintain strict adherence to Universal Precautions and control exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
• Keep work area clean and maintain required certifications, health, and operational standards.
• Report unsafe conditions, complaints, or problems encountered at the workplace.
• Monitor supplies inventory, report low stock or out-of-stock situations, and identify expired supplies.
• Adhere to timekeeping requirements by accurately maintaining time records of hours worked.
• Maintain proper grooming, wear the required identification, and report to work promptly.
• Follow all specimen preservation, patient preparation, and specimen management processes without deviation.
• Use only approved documents and make changes to records only per approved instructions.
• Be available on-call for evenings and weekends and for irregular unscheduled overtime as needed.

• Excellent communication and interaction skills with diverse populations, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
• Respectful, dignified, and discreet treatment of customers and patients, acknowledging residents’ rights and the right to refuse.
• Demonstrated regular attendance.
• Current, valid state phlebotomy license (if required).
• Current, valid state driver’s license, car insurance, good driving record, and ownership of a vehicle in good working condition for daily driving requirements.
• Proficiency in venipuncture and skin puncture using vacutainer and syringe techniques.
• Knowledge of laboratory operations.
• Ability to maintain sterile, sanitary conditions to prevent contamination.

The work environment is a standard medical laboratory setting that may have potential health hazards. Administrative, technical, and professional staff are expected to operate safely in accordance with applicable health and safety policies and procedures, as prescribed by the Environmental Health and Safety Manual. This includes consistent use of personal protective equipment.
