The outpatient PT/OT Clerk provides administrative and clerical support to the Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy departments. This position assists with scheduling, patient registration, medical records, insurance verification, insurance preauthorization, documentation, and communication with patients, providers, and therapy staff.
- Schedule and coordinate patient therapy appointments.
- Register patients and verify demographic and insurance information.
- Answer phones and assist patients with questions regarding appointments and services.
- Maintain accurate patient records and therapy documentation.
- Obtain and process referrals, orders, and authorizations as needed.
- Coordinate communication between therapists, patients, providers, and other departments.
- Enter and update information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Assist with billing-related documentation and charge entry.
- Maintain department files, forms, and supplies.
- Provide general clerical support to PT and OT staff.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous medical office or healthcare clerical experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and computer skills.
- Ability to handle confidential patient information appropriately.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
