We are seeking a calm, decisive, and detail-driven Private Events Captain to lead event execution at a high-volume, upscale restaurant. This role is responsible for commanding banquet service operations, coordinating front and back of house communication, protecting profitability, and ensuring flawless execution of contracted event details.
This is a leadership position requiring emotional regulation under pressure, strong operational control, and a proactive mindset.
Core Responsibilities- Command banquet floor during all events
- Control event timeline and service pacing
- Direct banquet staff and delegate responsibilities clearly
- Conduct pre-service walkthroughs with kitchen and service team
- Confirm headcounts and menu execution before service begins
- Serve as primary liaison between FOH and BOH during events
- Confirm plating accuracy and portion standards
- Prevent deviations from contracted menus
- Manage timing adjustments calmly and efficiently
- Address guest concerns professionally and decisively
- Authorized to approve comps up to $300 (or defined threshold)
- Escalate issues beyond authority to GM
- Actively work to prevent avoidable comps
- Maintain calm, steady presence under pressure
- Regulate team energy and prevent visible panic
- Reinforce service standards and professionalism
- Identify execution gaps and improvement opportunities
- Ensure checklist compliance for all banquets
- Minimum 1-2 years banquet leadership experience
- Proven ability to manage high-volume events
- Strong communication skills with both kitchen and service staff
- Ability to stay composed in fast-paced, high-pressure situations
- Profit-conscious and solution-oriented mindset
- Experience in upscale or high-revenue banquet environments preferred
- Direct but professional communicator
- Anticipates problems before they escalated
