This position maintains and optimizes network and telecommunications hardware, software, and support systems to maximize network availability and performance. This role may work closely with Systems Administrators and PC support personnel to analyze and resolve end user connectivity issues in a timely and accurate fashion.
Network Administrator III candidates will have proven knowledge of one or more of the following functional areas and demonstrate the skills needed to gain proficiency in the other area.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITYDocument, debug, install and maintain network hardware devices, configurations, and support systems with minimal oversight.
Develop Detail Designs based on High Level Designs provided by System Architect.
Utilize ITIL framework for Change, Incident, and Problem Management for supporting the production environment.
Provide experienced support for systems.
Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues.
Provide after-hours problem resolution as required.
Functional Area#1 – Network Hardware and Software
Assist in the installation and maintenance of network hardware devices, configurations, and support systems.
Assist in troubleshooting network connectivity and performance issues.
Assist in maintaining operating systems, updates, and fixes for assigned systems.
Technical Skills Required (Proficient Level or Higher):
- Local and Wide Area Network Technologies
- OSI Reference Model
- Cisco IOS/NXOS, routing, switching, and security.
- Wireless Networks and technology.
- TCP/IP networking
- Web Filtering technologies and management
- Windows and Linux OS platforms
- Microsoft Office Suite with Visio
#2 – Network Security
Assist in maintenance and configuration of security protocols for the network.
Technical Skills Required (Proficient Level or Higher):
- Routing protocols and network security.
- Network security best practices.
- Firewall Management (PAN and ASA).
- Virtual Private Network.
Complete all training and assignments in a timely and effective manner.
Apply departmental standards and procedures to all assignments.
Adhere to all defined processes and procedures.
Effectively communicate with appropriate personnel.
Manage multiple projects and requests simultaneously.
Escalate problems to appropriate personnel, as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONSAt least one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in a network, computer, or management related field and foundational experience in an information technology-related field.
- Associate degree from an accredited school in a technology-related field and proven experience in an information technology-related field.
Strong problem-solving abilities.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability and willingness to learn and extend skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite.
Willing to travel as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSUse of PC, telephone, copy machine, fax, and other office equipment over six (6) hours per day.
Extended periods of sitting and concentration.
Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and reaching in office environment.
Consistently lift and move items weighing up to 40 lbs. without assistance.
WORKING CONDITIONSOccasional long, irregular hours.
Occasional travel by auto or other public transportation.
Work to be conducted in office environment owned or leased by company.
