The Data Business Analyst Lead is an experienced individual contributor within the Data Office responsible for coordinating business analysis across complex, cross-functional data initiatives. This role blends deep analytical skills with technical acumen in Power BI, data modeling, and/or enterprise data warehousing. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader, capable of aligning business needs with scalable data solutions and acting as a central liaison between business stakeholders, data engineers, and IT.
MAJORRESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY
- Lead the discovery, documentation, and validation of business and data requirements across large-scale data initiatives.
- Facilitate alignment between business stakeholders, developers, and data professionals to deliver integrated data and reporting solutions.
- Translate complex business problems into structured data models, reporting specs, and user stories with traceable acceptance criteria.
- Coordinate end-to-end requirements lifecycle from discovery to testing and production validation.
- Define and advocate for best practices in requirements gathering, solution documentation, and delivery coordination.
- Serve as the lead analyst on initiatives involving Power BI solutions, enterprise data models, and/or data warehouse architecture.
- Collaborate with product owners and IS to shape roadmaps and prioritize enhancements, especially for core platforms such as Guidewire.
- Provide support and validation during release cycles, ensuring business readiness and report/data integrity post-deployment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by mentoring peers, refining templates, and enhancing documentation standards.

Education and Experience
At least one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field and substantial experience in business analysis or BI development, with demonstrated success delivering reporting and analytics solutions.
- Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field and extensive experience in business analysis or BI development, with demonstrated success delivering reporting and analytics solutions.
Skills:
- Deep understanding of data modeling concepts, including dimensional modeling and schema design.
- Experience creating and refining specifications for Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Proficiency in SQL for querying and validating data.
- Demonstrated ability to lead analysis efforts across multiple stakeholders and systems.
- Strong facilitation, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Adept at simplifying complex technical issues into clear business language.
- Committed to continuous learning and process improvement.
- Comfortable operating in both Agile and traditional SDLC environments.
- Experience in insurance or finance-related business domains.
- Exposure to enterprise data governance, data quality frameworks, or metadata management.
- Agile Product Owner or Business Analysis certification is a plus. Experience with enterprise tools such as data cataloging platforms, data visualization tools, JIRA, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Prior experience in Guidewire product ownership is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Guidewire Policy Center, Billing Center, or Claims Center is highly desirable.
- Exposure to Azure Data Services, including Synapse or Data Factory, is a plus.
Valid Texas driver’s license and driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation or disqualify the employee from the Certified Fleet Operator Status under the Company Driving and Safety Policy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS- Use of office equipment over six (6) hours per day.
- Extended periods of sitting and concentration.
- Occasional lifting and moving of items up to 30 lbs.
- Occasional long, irregular hours.
- Work conducted in a company-owned or leased office environment.
- Travel as required.
