Applications Administrator

The Applications Administrator performs a variety of complex professional and technical duties. The Applications Administrator will act as the primary administrator for assigned applications as well as the escalation point for more in-depth and complex issues. This position ensures all areas of applications are supported with proper setup, maintenance, and technical support. This position is responsible for expanding adoption of critical business applications and optimizing these applications for more integrations.

• Administers applications with responsibilities including user setup, application configuration, planning, organizing, and managing the reporting and application development support activities. Such activities include: issue escalation and prioritization, setting a high standard of customer support, understanding issue root causes and implementing preventative/corrective actions
• Researches, proposes, and implements application enhancements that will improve the reliability, features, and performance of said applications
• Evaluates, tests, and applies updates and patches to applications on a scheduled basis
• Ensures stability and integrity of the County’s application systems
• Provides input on projects
• Supports and assists in leading tasks or projects as assigned; provide leadership assistance and support in working with technology vendors and implementation partners to implement technical solutions
• Works directly with third-party and internally developed software applications throughout their lifecycle to ensure proper functionality, usability, reliability, security and performance
• Builds relationships with third-party vendors to gain an understanding of application architectures, required functionality and possible issues
• Trains client groups on application use, functionality, data quality and reporting and help them resolve application issues
• Manages application interface configuration, testing, and implementation for on time delivery to clients
• Produce organized and informative system documentation, including details of application configuration and installation and client infrastructure
• Seeks and acts on opportunities to improve workflows, system utilization, and application enhancement
• Analyzes and designs reports to satisfy information requirements from other departments and external vendors/public entities
• Conduct application testing, build test plans and scripts, support client application testing, and collect and summarize test data
• Collaborates with the Security and Compliance Analyst to ensure compliance with security standards and policies, monitoring access privileges, conducting risk assessments, investigating suspicious activities, and remediation of identified security threats or risks
• Understanding and adherence to CJIS security standards and maintaining McLennan County’s Audit Compliance from a technical aspect
• Handle system security and user role profile management within Enterprise Applications
• Promote standardization across divisions in utilizing Enterprise Application Systems
• Works with other entities and entities within the IT Dept. to resolve applications issues
• Identifies and troubleshoots escalated problems with applications and leverages appropriate resources to deliver solutions
• Build and create a knowledge base; ensure other IT team members are informed and educated
• Analysis and implementation of best practice business processes aligned with the correct technology and tools
• Researches various software resources to identify strengths, weaknesses, and potential benefits to the agency along with making recommendations on best path forward
