Assistant Precast Plant Logistics Manager

Geoquest USA, Inc. (formerly The Reinforced Earth Company) is recognized as the inventor and market leader of the MSE (Mechanically Stabilized Earth) retaining wall industry. The company provides the design and supply of materials of proprietary retaining wall systems and earth related technologies to contractors and owners for use in civil engineering. Our company works as a sub-contractor/material supplier on DOT and privately owned projects.

We perform all duties associated with our jobs from sales, marketing, civil engineering/design, supply, and construction support.

The Assistant Precast Plant Logistics Manager reports to the Assistant Plant Manager, Plant Manager, or Regional Plant Manager and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all inbound and outbound logistics activities within the precast concrete manufacturing plant. This includes transportation, dispatch, yard management, inventory flow, load planning, and coordination with production, project management, and field operations.

The role ensures that precast products are delivered safely, on time, and in full compliance with project specifications and customer requirements, while optimizing trucking efficiency, yard utilization, and overall logistics cost.

This position requires strong organizational skills, operational awareness, and real-time decision-making to align plant production with delivery schedules and site readiness.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and manage daily, weekly, and long-term delivery schedules in coordination with Production, Project Management, and Customers.
  • Plan and optimize truck routes, load sequencing, and delivery timing.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of company fleet and third-party carriers.
  • Coordinate shipment priorities based on project schedules and site conditions.
  • Adjust dispatch plans in real time to accommodate changes, delays, or production constraints.
  • Oversee all shipping operations, including loading, securing, and dispatching precast elements.
  • Ensure all loads comply with DOT regulations, weight restrictions, and permitting requirements.
  • Coordinate escort vehicles, permits, and special transport requirements for oversized loads.
  • Verify accuracy of Bills of Lading (BOL), shipping documentation, and delivery tickets.
  • Track shipments and provide real-time updates to internal teams and customers.
  • Work closely with Production to ensure product readiness aligns with shipment schedules.
  • Interface with Engineering and Project Management teams to confirm priorities and delivery sequences.
  • Communicate with Customers/Owners regarding schedules, constraints, and delivery updates.
  • Support field erection teams with delivery coordination and issue resolution.
  • Enforce all safety procedures during loading, transport, and yard operations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety standards.
  • Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Promote safe work practices among drivers, riggers, and yard personnel.
  • Monitor and optimize transportation costs, including freight rates and fuel usage.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction.
  • Minimize detention time, empty miles, and inefficiencies in dispatch operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, deliveries, and logistics performance.
  • Track key logistics KPIs such as on-time delivery, trucking utilization, and cost per load.
  • Provide regular reports to management on logistics performance and issues.
  • Maintain compliance documentation for audits and Customer/Owner requirements.
  • Supervise dispatchers, yard supervisors, drivers, and logistics personnel.
  • Conduct daily coordination meetings with logistics and yard teams.
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels and cross-training for continuity.
  • Participate in plant coordination meetings (production, safety, scheduling).
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in logistics and operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
