Director of Residential Services
The Director of Residential Services reports to the Senior Director for Programs and provides administrative leadership to all programs and services offered in the assigned area. The Director organizes and executes programs that are consistent with the MCH model of care and ensures a safe, caring and therapeutic environment for those served. This position requires the intellectual and emotional maturity to work with families who are experiencing difficulty in providing appropriate care for the children in their home and children who have behavioral issues, developmental delays and mental health needs.
This position also requires respect and compassionate understanding for these children and their families. The Director of Residential Services must have a thorough understanding of and demonstrated competency in Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) and other evidence-based programs offered in the assigned area. The Director must maintain a healthy value system, including moral and ethical behavior consistent with the agency's mission and core values.
This position involves frequent contact with consumers, program staff, MCH employees, community agencies, vendors, donors, visitors and other stakeholders.
- Select, train, supervise and evaluate staff in accordance with MCH personnel policies.
- Maintain a regular schedule of case review/supervision in compliance with program guidelines.
- Provide ongoing support and direction to staff to ensure a professional work environment.
- Monitor staff and programs to verify MCH policies and procedures are appropriately implemented.
- Maintain compliance with applicable licensing and accreditation standards.
- Ensure the effective implementation of TBRI and other evidence-based programs offered.
- Develop annual budget and operate programs within approved budget.
- Manage agency funds, resources and equipment according to agency policies and procedures.
- Meet utilization and outcome goals for each program.
- Work collaboratively in a proactive and positive manner with other departments.
- Lead program evaluation and continuous quality improvement process for assigned area.
- Represent program at agency functions, activities and events.
- Represent agency at community functions, activities and events.
- Complete required documentation.
- Ensure all facilities and equipment are clean, organized and maintained.
This is a professional position that may require more hours than the normal 40‑hour workweek. Presence during normal business hours of the agency is required to provide supervision and availability for consultation, staffing and administrative functions. Responsibilities include work in the evenings and on weekends. This position requires the ability to serve in an on‑call capacity and respond to emergencies after office hours.
Out of town and overnight travel are required. An automobile for in‑town and out‑of‑town travel is required. Mileage reimbursement is provided for use of personal automobile for approved business purposes. A cell phone is required, and a technology stipend is provided to offset the business use of the cell phone.
A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related field is required; a Master's Degree is preferred. Relevant experience in programs and services offered in the assigned area is required. Supervisory and administrative experience in human services is preferred. The Director of Residential Services must have or be eligible to obtain the administrator license(s) required by state authorities for the assigned area.
The required administrator license(s) must be obtained within 12 months of accepting the position. Credentials as a Licensed Master Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor are preferred.
Training hours must be completed annually to comply with licensing and accreditation standards, as well as MCH policy. The employee's supervisor may require additional training to meet specific job requirements or enhance professional growth. Completion of training requirements is mandatory for continued employment.
OTHERThe Director of Residential Services must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver's license with an excellent driving record that meets the standards set forth by the liability insurance company, have no criminal history, and provide acceptable references. The position is offered by Methodist Children's Home.
