Director of Risk & Safety Waco Surf – Waco, Texas Position Summary The Director of Risk & Safety is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving Waco Surf’s comprehensive risk management, safety, emergency preparedness, and loss prevention programs. This leader will ensure a safe environment for guests, employees, contractors, and partners while supporting exceptional guest experiences across surf operations, water attractions, hospitality venues, events, and recreational activities.

The Director of Risk & Safety serves as a strategic partner to executive leadership, balancing operational excellence, regulatory compliance, guest satisfaction, and business objectives through proactive risk assessment and safety leadership.

Qualifications Required Demonstrated experience developing and implementing enterprise-wide safety programs.

Minimum 4 years of direct experience managing aquatic safety programs and lifeguard operations in a waterpark, surf park, aquatic center, or similar high-volume aquatic environment.

Demonstrate experience overseeing lifeguard staffing, surveillance systems, rescue readiness, emergency action plans, and aquatic risk mitigation programs.

Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification or ability to obtain upon hire.

Ability to work on flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and special events.

Preferred Qualifications Current or previous Star Guard ELITE Level 2 Instructor Certification.

Experience serving as an Aquatics Director, Waterpark Operations Manager, Safety Manager, Risk Manager, or similar leadership role.

Experience managing risk and safety programs for surf lagoons, wave-generating systems, adventure attractions, or destination recreation facilities.

Experience working with insurance carriers, claims management, and regulatory agencies.

Instructor-level certifications in lifeguarding, emergency response, or aquatic safety training.
