What We Are Looking For

We are seeking an Associate Vice President of Facilities Management who will provide executive leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for Baylor University's Facilities Management organization and serve as Senior Facilities Officer (SFO). Reporting to the Vice President for Business & Finance and Chief Financial Officer, this position provides strategic leadership for the University's physical property assets and sustainability initiatives. Responsibilities include overseeing campus planning, design and construction, facilities operations and maintenance, custodial services, utilities, landscape operations, contracted facilities services, and the Office of Sustainability.

The position is responsible for advancing operational excellence, environmental stewardship, and the long‑term planning, preservation, and enhancement of the University's physical environment. The role ensures the University's facilities and grounds remain safe, reliable, sustainable, and aligned with institutional priorities while supporting Baylor's Christian mission.

A bachelor’s degree and seven years of progressively responsible leadership experience in facilities management, engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field is required. A master's degree and ten or more years of senior facilities leadership experience, preferably in higher education, is preferred.

All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.

What You Will Do
  • Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for Facilities Management.

  • Oversee campus planning, design and construction, maintenance, custodial, utilities, landscape, and contracted services.

  • Lead capital planning, deferred maintenance, renovations, and construction initiatives.

  • Develop and administer operating and capital budgets while ensuring responsible stewardship of resources.

  • Recommend policies, operational improvements, and long‑range facilities strategies.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and environmental requirements.

  • Develop high‑performing teams and foster operational excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Build collaborative relationships with campus partners, contractors, and external stakeholders.

  • Lead emergency response and business continuity efforts related to facilities.

  • Perform other duties in support of Baylor University's Christian mission.
