Location: Waco, TX
Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite – W2
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Duration: 12-month contract- option to go internal
Pay: $20/hr

The Manufacturing Engineer 1 applies engineering theory and principles to support industrial layout and manufacturing production operations at Caterpillar’s BCP Waco Assembly facility. This entry‑level role provides hands‑on production support by improving manufacturing processes, updating tooling and routings, assisting with new product introductions (NPI), and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
The engineer works closely with cross‑functional teams on the factory floor to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality production while gaining exposure to real‑world manufacturing challenges and solutions.
Responsibilities- Provide day‑to‑day production support for assembly operations
- Study time, motion, methods, and speed involved in production to improve efficiency
- Update and maintain tooling, routings, and bills of material (BOMs)
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Review product change notices and implement engineering changes
- Prepare charts, graphs, diagrams, and documentation to illustrate workflow, layouts, and material handling
- Author and maintain standard work documentation in Teamcenter and SAP
- Assist with New Product Introduction (NPI) activities
- Participate in Rapid Improvement Workshops (RIWs) and problem‑solving sessions
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost
- Collaborate with Quality, Supply, Logistics, and Planning teams to resolve nonconformances
- Support 3D printing and prototyping activities as needed
- 0–2 years of relevant experience
- Internships are accepted as qualifying experience
- Comparable backgrounds may include Engineering Aide or Manufacturing Support roles
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree considered overqualified
