- Why This Role Exists
This role exists due to steady growth and increased production demands at a Central Texas machining and fabrication facility.
This position plays a critical role in programming, setting up, and running CNC equipment while helping lead day-to-day operations in the machine shop. The company is looking for a seasoned CNC professional who can program efficiently, oversee setups, troubleshoot issues, and keep production moving — especially when machining castings.
This is not just a button-pushing role. It’s a leadership-level machinist position with real responsibility.

- The Work You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
Program, set up, and operate CNC vertical machining centers (VMCs), CNC lathes, and horizontal machines
Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs to improve cycle time and efficiency
Machine castings and ensure proper work holding and stability
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
Select tooling, establish offsets, and verify setups
Perform first-article and in-process inspections
Troubleshoot programming, setup, and machining issues independently
Help oversee daily shop operations and support other machinists
Maintain safety, quality, and production standards
This role requires someone who can think ahead, solve problems, and lead by example on the shop floor.

- What We’re Looking For
Required:
5–10 years of CNC programming and machining experience
Strong experience with VMCs, CNC lathes, and horizontal machines
Experience machining castings (required)
Ability to program, edit, and optimize CNC programs
Strong blueprint reading and tolerance control
Experience performing full setups and selecting tooling
Leadership ability to oversee shop operations
Ability to troubleshoot independently
Must provide and maintain your own precision measuring tools
Preferred:
Trade school or technical certification
Experience in a job shop or production machining environment
