Materials Technician II - Shipping (2nd Shift)

ResponsibilitiesHowmet Fastening Systems is looking for a Materials Technician II (2nd Shift) in our Shipping Department. The position performs complex materials tasks including shipping finished goods to customers, has thorough knowledge of business enterprise systems and identifies problems and takes required corrective action to achieve a high level of transaction accuracy. This role may provide technical support to lower-level Materials Technicians.
In this role, it may be required to physically lift, place, and carry items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds for moderate distances.
Responsibilities:
- Must be able to perform all responsibilities of Material Tech I.
- Review shipping documents to determine customer specific packaging and labeling requirements.
- Pick stock in accordance with pick list, verifying accuracy of system data.
- Processes shipment for delivery including creating bill of lading and packing slip.
- Utilize UPS Worldship system to process shipments.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Create Advance Shipping Notices in John Deere system as needed. Ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with established safety and environmental standards.
- Maintains full compliance and conducts all activities in accordance with Company policies and procedures.

Skills:
- Must be able to read, write and accurately perform routing math calculations.
- Must be able to interact positively with other individuals to function effectively in a team-based environment.
- Must have mechanical aptitude and ability.
- Must be able to operate basic computer systems and programs.
- Must be able to learn computer-based applications and equipment.
- Ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently with little guidance.
- Ability to work in an organized manner to ensure Quality standards are met.
Physical Demands:
- Carrying items up to fifty (50) pounds for moderate distances.
- Abundance of sitting due to amount of forklift driving necessary.
- Need to be able to perform at a high rate while paying attention to detail.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum two years' experience in warehouse or manufacturing.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
