Outside Forklift/Offal Operator

The primary responsibility of this position is to unload and store received dry goods until needed in the plant for production.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as production demands may require:

• Unload materials from incoming vans and stack them to assigned places as needed.
• Inspect machinery to determine the need for repairs and guarantee safety by performing regular inspections.
• Remove trash/offal from facility in timely manner and place in proper receptacles.
• Utilize offal auger system to ensure timely offal removal.
• Ensure offal area is maintained in an orderly manner.
• Comply with company policies and legal guidelines.
• Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facility and grounds.

Store goods in designated area.

Performs other related duties as assigned to support production demands as may be specified by management or supervisor.

Education and/or experience:
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong math skills and basic computer skills required. Experience with scissor lift preferred.

License and certification required:

The employee must complete PIT training. Forklift certification. Scissor-lift certification.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to hot, dry, cold, wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

Protective equipment:

The employee is required to wear a hair net, beard net (if necessary), slip proof boots, smock, and ear protection.
