Manufacturing Welder 2

Overview

This position is responsible for performing moderate manufacturing weld fabrications of various products and components. The MFG Welder 2 demonstrates proficiency in established welding procedures and guidelines, including understanding drawings and blueprints, and adhering to standard procedures when setting up parts, tack welding, stitch welding, and seal welding. The role can be performed independently or as part of a team to provide welding services that satisfy customer needs and achieve departmental goals.

Mid-level position – generally two to four years of experience and/or demonstrated job‑relevant knowledge/skills, with welding certifications in GMAW and FCAW for the 1‑3 G/F positions. Moderate knowledge of standard and technical manufacturing concepts, indirectly supervised, and self‑starting.

• Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of Holt’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with the company’s Vision, Values, and Mission.
• Adheres to guidelines and procedures when setting up, tack/stitch welding subassemblies, and full product utilizing various tools and fixtures.
• Assists in developing new fabrication weldment procedures, utilizing drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols while referencing current standard work.
• Performs moderate skills to interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols and call‑outs.
• Completes work orders, fabrication, and welding on product and components.
• Ensures all weldments comply with specific welding codes, procedures, and quality standards.
• Performs oxy/acetylene torch and plasma cutting, and welding with multiple welding processes.
• Maintains an abundance mindset to achieve highest levels of performance and quality.
• Performs and completes tasks with some supervision.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities (e.g., Pro Tech Welder Training Paths).
• Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) with task consistency across shifts and work areas.
• Transports material within the area or between areas using overhead crane, jibs, carts, magnets and other devices.
• Works as a member of the manufacturing team to provide high‑quality products that satisfy customers (internal and external) and achieve manufacturing goals.
• Maintains equipment and work area performance through regular operator checks and maintenance, ensuring operational equipment and work areas remain clean and orderly (OPM and 5S).
• Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
• Communicates process variances for an area or product.
• Works overtime as required by workload and customer needs.
• Provides training and development support for new and existing team members.
• Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies, procedures, and standards.
• Requires regular and punctual employee attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Demonstrated knowledge of weld equipment and dimensional tools, including their uses and maintenance.
• Demonstrated knowledge of specification and drawing interpretations; e.g., drawings, blueprints, and the use of equipment needed to fabricate and perform tasks.
• Demonstrated knowledge with current computer software and related hardware.
• Established good work habits, accuracy, and exceptional attention to detail and quality of work.
• Demonstrated technical skills as a skilled-qualified welder and fabricator to effectively perform assigned welding tasks.
• Ability to read, write, and understand information.
• Adaptable to changing schedules and exhibits time‑management skills.
• Ability to follow logical troubleshooting and standard operating procedures when performing welding fabrication.
• Ability to develop thinking and problem‑solving skills to learn and understand Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) process.
