Summary/Objective

The Director of Impact and Engagement provides strategic leadership for the organization's Community Impact and Community Engagement efforts, serving as the primary liaison to community partners, stakeholders, and collaborative organizations. This position oversees grant administration, compliance, stewardship, and committee coordination; manages partner and stakeholder relationships; facilitates community impact initiatives; and fosters meaningful community participation and cross-sector collaboration. Through the development and stewardship of strategic partnerships, the Director advances the child well-being initiatives of the United Way of Waco-McLennan County and helps drive measurable, sustainable community outcomes.

Required

education, licenses, certification, and experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred); update as appropriate

Three years of relevant experience in community impact, engagement, grant‑making, or a related field; update as appropriate

Valid Texas Driver’s License and Personal Auto Insurance Policy

Acceptable background check

Work authorization/security clearance required

Must be eligible to work in the United States

Excellent writing, editing, verbal, and presentation skills

Knowledge of collective impact strategies and best practices

Ability to translate strategic thinking into action plans and results

Strong understanding of equity and matters pertaining to its achievement in organizational and community practice

Major Duties and Responsibilities Community Engagement

Cultivates relationships, develops innovative partnerships, and creates alliances and networks to engage the broader community in the work of United Way.

Reviews existing internal/external practices to identify opportunities to maximize organizational engagement within area communities.

Identifies opportunities to lead and participate in community organizations, committees, and councils that will lead to the realization of United Way’s mission, vision, and Community Engagement goals.

Guides community efforts to develop and implement innovative activities to address gaps in services related to child well‑being and community impact.

Provides information sharing and administrative support to various constituent groups with a focus on (but not limited to) the United Way Board of Directors, Impact & Engagement Committee, Community Investment Councils, as well as local collaboratives, coalitions, and working groups.

Organizes and promotes community dialogue with community leaders, residents, and other stakeholders regarding issues related to child well‑being and overall community impact.

Seeks regular opportunities to stay informed on promising practices in authentic and well‑intentioned community engagement efforts.

Community Impact

Provides support for organization/grantee relationship development as it relates to programs specifically aligned with child well‑being strategies and the impact framework overall.
