Nurse Supervisor, RN

Are you a results‑driven clinical leader with a passion for shaping nursing excellence and developing nursing teams to deliver the highest standards of care? Heart of Texas Behavioral Health Network is recruiting for a Nurse Supervisor, RN for our Diversion Center, a facility that provides triage and crisis services to individuals in a crisis residential setting. Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, you will manage the overall operations of the Nursing Department of the Diversion Center, in accordance with company policy, quality standards of nursing care and government regulations ensuring efficiency and the excellence in the delivery of care.

In addition, this position will supervise all RN, LVN nurses and patient care technician, all of whom provide assessment, care, and treatment of clients experiencing a behavioral health crises.

Examples of Work Performed:
  • Supervises administration of medications, immunizations, and treatment and observes patients for unusual symptoms and reactions.
  • Supervises physical, developmental, and psychosocial assessments of client health needs and implements appropriate action.
  • Screens crisis telephone calls and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Identifies community services and makes referrals to health care services.
  • Assists in evaluating services provided and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Participates in quality assurance reviews as required.
  • Trains other staff as required.
  • Perform related work as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate a caring attitude and communicate effectively with clients, other staff, law enforcement, and family members.
  • Must be able to work as a team member in all areas of planning and assisting individuals in meeting their goals.
  • Must be able to make decisions based on sound judgement in collaboration with other team members.
  • Knowledge of nursing techniques and procedures; health care laws and regulations; medical diagnoses and procedures; accepted medical treatment programs; and community health and nursing care principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to provide patient care, prepare and maintain records, explain public health law, and to train others.
  • Ability to delegate assignments to the appropriate individuals based on their skills and roles.
  • Have excellent computer skills for clinical documentation.
  • Must be able to administer medication.
  • Capable of maintaining regular attendance and at times may need to work evenings and weekends as necessary to ensure coverage of shifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Supervisor Duties:
  • Must be able to supervise 20+ employees
  • Hire and train staff
  • Develop policy and procedures
  • Must be able to do performance evaluations
  • Manage program area
Education and Experience:
  • Must be currently licensed and in good standing as a Registered Nurse by the State of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Two years supervisory experience Required.
  • Minimum two years of behavioral health care experience Required.

Hours:

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Salary: $75,000 annually
