Job Description

The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations, reporting to the Plasma Center Manager. The role includes determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

About the role

The Medical Support Specialist works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The Specialist follows Bio Life Medical Affairs guidance and provides center‑level support for environmental, health and safety (EHS).

How you will contribute

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent management, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).

• Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in SOPs, follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, develop Center Physician’s standing orders, and coordinate donor transport to emergency care facilities.

• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical guidance, including donor safety and eligibility.

• Support the Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.

• Manage employee incidents, determine further evaluation requirements by occupational health/ER, and follow EHS guidance for employee incidents.

• Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats.

What you bring to Takeda
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment: EMT‑Paramedic.
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Complete FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

U.S. Hourly Wage Range

$22.80 - $31.35. The final wage will depend on qualifications, experience, and specific skills and will comply with state and local minimum wage requirements.
