DUTIES:
  • Performs Final, In-Process, and Receiving inspection on detail parts, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies. Examines defective parts and determines cause of defect. Tests final products functionality and compliance to drawings/specifications.
  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, measurements, or specifications. Consults with Supervision or Engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards. Evaluates data and prepares inspection reports to validate or indicate deviations, discrepancies, or quality level of materials noted.
  • Works with Engineering departments and provides testing assistance and feedback. Works with Quality Engineering and Material Review Board (MRB) to ensure timely disposition and movement of material.
  • Performs Root Cause Analysis on internal and external rejections as required. Effectively communicates product inspection status with other departments.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Directs others and prioritizes incoming work. Trains others as directed by Supervision.
  • Sets up and performs various tests on parts, materials, units, or products to measure performance, or material characteristics by use of electrical and mechanical measuring devices, set-ups, tools, and equipment.
  • Performs visual inspections checking, for conformity to specifications and tolerances. Performs roving inspections as required. Prepares graphs or charts of data, or enters data into computer or other data collections instruments for analysis.
  • In addition to normal duties of quality inspections and tests, as may be described in the Quality Inspector I and II positions, other miscellaneous duties related to the job will be performed as requested by Supervision. Conforms to safety and inspection requirements. Keep facilities, materials, equipment and work area clean and orderly, exercising care in their maintenance..
EQUIPMENT:
  • Must be proficient with and able to train others on equipment required to perform the duties for the position, to include but not limited to: safety equipment as designated by Supervision, voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter, multi-meter, charge and discharge panels, calipers, micrometer, vernier, scales (measuring & weighting), gauges, thread gauges, optical comparator, computer or other electronic data collection instruments, small hand measuring tools, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), etc.
NOTE:
  • The above description requires minimal supervision, is an outline of the duties performed, and is not intended to be restrictive. Experienced and knowledgeable in all aspects of inspection within the various product lines, and proficient in use of all testing equipment is required. Qualification further requires successful passage of the Inspector II and III Quality Tests, and must have shown ability to lead and direct others in their inspection duties and training.
In addition, this position requires:
  • Three (3) years' experience in aerospace quality systems.
  • Ability to comprehend oral and graphic instructions or technical information, and write simple documentation and correspondence.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to assembly workers, supervisors, engineers, inspectors and certification officials.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and/or power supply assemblies and problem diagnosis at the component piece level.
  • Ability to identify technical problems, evaluate and select available options for solutions and to carry out instructions furnished. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and interpret engineering specifications.
  • Knowledge of Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques, FAA inspection requirements.
  • This position must meet "US Person" Export Control Requirements as defined by 22 CFR 120.62 - "US Person means a person who is a lawful permanent resident as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or who is a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)."
