Position: Quality Engineer I

Quality Engineer I

The primary responsibility of a Quality Engineer I ensures that all products and services meet the highest safety and quality standards. This role involves developing and maintaining quality assurance processes, conducting audits, and collaborating with various departments to ensure compliance with industry regulations and customer requirements.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Assist with AS9100 compliance activities, internal audits, and quality documentation.
  • Review inspection records and quality data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support Material Inspections, First Article Inspections (FAIs), Material Review Board (MRB) activities, and quality investigations.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Support supplier quality activities including supplier evaluations and surveys, audits, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Participate in product and process reviews to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Assist Engineering and Operations teams with quality-related.
  • Support calibration program activities and quality record maintenance.
  • Generate reports, metrics, and presentations related to quality performance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and quality methodologies.
Desired Duties And Responsibilities
  • Support of all AS9100 Quality Management System certification activities, including auditing, planning, implementing, and maintaining Quality processes and systems.
  • Support optimizing core business processes through internal audits to ensure conformance to QMS policies and procedures in accordance with AS9100/ISO 9001 standard, FAA, EASA, UK CAA, and other officials, regulations as well as customer requirements.
  • Develop QMS Continuous Improvement Plans including resources needed, timeline with critical path and milestones using Project Management best practices and Lean principles to achieve the goals of the QMS.
  • Develop Quality Control Plans applying Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) utilizing Process Flow Diagrams, System FMEAs, Cause-and-effect analysis, Product Critical Characteristics and First Article Inspections.
  • Review Quality Control data of soldering and conformal coating of Electronic Circuit Card Assemblies using IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards.
  • Generate and manage Supplier Corrective Action and review supplier root cause analysis and corrective action response.
  • Support Supplier on-site visits as requested.
  • Support the transition of products from Engineering development to Production with the generation and implementation of documentation of Critical to Quality inspection points and characteristics. This includes the review of New Product Parts, Material Change Requests and Engineering Change Orders.
  • Participate in Design Reviews and provide Quality risk analysis with innovative and cost-effective solutions.
Education And/Or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required. Bachelors in Engineering or technical field preferred
  • 0–2 years of experience in quality, manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, or related technical environments for experience.
  • Strong written communication skills, verbal communication skills and analytical skills including proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite applications, databases, ERP software, Power BI or another analytics tool.
  • Advance use of MS Excel with focus on report generation using forms and VBA macros.
  • Willingness to work under a Quality Engineer with a focus on electronic CCAs, mechanical assembly, and software assurance is preferred
  • Prefer experience with CCA circuit diagrams and mechanical specifications and working with Material Review Board and material disposition.
  • Awareness of Lean Manufacturing, Process Improvement principles, and Project Management best practices.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills and Strong technical writing skills with the ability to communicate effectively with management, technical teams, and all organization's business units.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, independently, as well as being self-motivated and proactive, including being innovative, detail oriented, possess initiative, be positive, and people oriented.
  • Willingness to support structured design practices such as RTCA DO-178 for software and DO-160 and DO-254 for hardware engineering design review.
  • Familiarity with inspecting solder, crimping, conformal coating, and surface mounted devices in accordance with IPC-J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 standards.
  • Passion for advancing the current state of the art of the commercial and military aviation industries.
