Overview of Responsibilities- Oversee self‑checkout units and ensure customer satisfaction through prompt, friendly service.
- Assist customers with scanning, weighing, bagging, and payment to provide a smooth checkout experience.
- Handle multiple customers simultaneously and anticipate potential issues.
- Answer questions and resolve issues related to large items, scanning/weighing, or payment.
- Monitor scanning activity to ensure accuracy.
- Invite customers to self‑checkout lanes, especially when other lanes are busy.
- Maintain knowledge of weekly ads, promotions, events, and guide customers to product locations.
- Keep self‑checkout areas clean and orderly and perform other related duties as assigned.
- Thank customers as they leave the self‑checkout area.
- 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in retail, customer service, or sales; 1–2 years of cashier experience preferred.
- Positive attitude and ability to interact positively with customers.
- Ability to operate front‑end equipment: register, calculator, scanner.
- Dependable and willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow direction in a team environment.
- Physical capability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs. horizontally/vertically (36”–24” width, up to 3 feet), 50 hours/week without mechanical assistance.
- Ability to use both hands to move grocery carts up to 35 lbs. horizontally for 4 feet at 50 hours/week.
