Job Overview
The Campus Store Sales & Service Associate provides frontline service and support for campus store operations. The role ensures an efficient, customer‑focused experience for students, faculty, and visitors, handling point‑of‑sale transactions, inventory management, merchandising, and online/sponsored student orders. Under the direction of the Campus Store Manager, the associate maintains store organization, cleanliness, and contributes to the overall success of retail and café operations.
EssentialFunctions
- Provide assistance to all customers while maintaining positive relations and delivering courteous, professional, and responsive service in person, by phone, and electronically.
- Operate a POS system, process transactions, issue receipts, and handle cash, checks, money orders, credit card charges, and sponsored student purchases in accordance with TSTC policies.
- Maintain accurate register balances, handle refunds per established guidelines, and account for monetary transactions accurately.
- Support statewide campus store operations by managing inventory: preparing merchandise for retail display, restocking shelves, assisting with stock counts, ordering, and receiving products.
- Assist with online, departmental, and sponsored student orders by preparing charges, verifying paperwork and identification, and maintaining organized files for tracking purposes.
- Perform general office duties, including operating office equipment such as computers, calculators, copiers, and fax machines, answering telephones, taking messages, and providing administrative support to the Campus Store Manager.
- Maintain store appearance and cleanliness by performing light housekeeping, ensuring a clean, organized, and safe environment and proper store layout and display materials.
- Assist in college events, such as graduation order processing, and provide backup support for café operations and other campus store activities as assigned.
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of one year of experience in retail, customer service, or inventory management.
- Ability to operate a PC‑based cash register and inventory systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and the public.
- Demonstrated ability to handle monetary transactions accurately.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and perform under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience in a higher education or campus retail setting.
- Familiarity with point‑of‑sale and inventory control software.
- Basic knowledge of merchandising and retail display practices.

- Attention to Detail – Ensures accuracy in cash handling, record‑keeping, and inventory processes.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, frequently operate computers and other standard office equipment, occasionally move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds for events or on‑site productions, and may be required to travel between TSTC locations or to event sites as needed.
