Assistant Store Manager

Key Responsibilities
  • Sales and Profitability:
    Assists the Store Manager in maximizing store sales to achieve goals by measuring and monitoring results against key targets; schedules to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Brand Experience/Customer Service:
    Ensures excellence in customer service in the store by modeling brand‑specific service standards, monitoring feedback and responding to all customer concerns quickly; engages the store team with each customer to create an authentic brand experience; supports store marketing events and grows community relationships to generate brand awareness.
  • Training and Coaching Team:
    Educates staff on product and assortment, provides coaching, feedback and timely information to enable success and growth; executes training programs in partnership with the Store Manager; organizes and leads store staff meetings; provides feedback to the Store Manager on associate performance and helps set team goals.
  • Operations, Loss Prevention, and Safety:
    Ensures compliance with policies, processes, and procedures; assists with creating and managing store schedules; participates in loss prevention audits, reviews results and executes plans to meet district and company shrink goals; reacts quickly to injuries and partners with the Store Manager and Human Resources.
  • Visual Merchandising:
    Implements floor‑sets and merchandising directives; leads the team on weekly visual merchandising changes; ensures placement procedures are followed and communicates concerns directly to the Store Manager as needed.
  • Human Resource Management:
    Assists with recruiting and retaining high‑performing associates that embody company values; creates contests, activities and incentives for associates in partnership with the Store Manager; addresses performance issues in partnership with the Store Manager; ensures compliance with all HR/Payroll requirements; maintains the Open‑Door Policy.
  • Store Culture:
    Models respectful behavior that honors individual differences; promotes an environment that encourages participation, creativity and learning; continuously seeks sustainable practices and recognizes environmental impact; embeds company purpose, mission and values into the team; ensures associates understand their impact on strategic priorities; creates a highly engaged, performance‑driven culture.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum of two years of retail sales experience.
  • Two years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Excellent communication, delegation, follow‑up and time‑management skills.
  • Proven ability to multi‑task and direct activities at all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, e‑mail, word processing, spreadsheets and other software programs.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and focus on customer satisfaction in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Open availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings and holidays.
Essential Functions
  • Operate office equipment and technology (cash register, computers, phones, scanners, etc.).
  • Stand during scheduled shifts for up to 8 hours.
  • Walk and move to assist customers, retrieve merchandise and restock the store.
  • Lifting and carrying; ability to maneuver and/or lift up to 25lb. regularly and up to 50lb. occasionally.
  • Push/pull full racks of merchandise for restocking.
  • Reach, stretch, bend, stoop and crouch to retrieve items from shelves, restock and maintain cleanliness.
  • Manual labor occasionally to assemble displays or rearrange the store layout.
  • Accurately read labels, assist customers and perform tasks that require attention to detail and fine manipulation.
