Environmental Lab Analyst
Minimum Starting Salary: $22.4076 per hour
The City of Waco is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Environmental Lab Analyst to join our team. This role follows environmental lab procedures to assure the quality and accuracy of the environmental laboratory tests. Minimum Qualifications- Associate's Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or a related science field and 2 years environmental lab experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Class D Water License from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) within 1 year.
- Class C Surface Water License from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) within 2.5 years.
Under basic supervision, collects and analyzes Water/Wastewater (W/WW) samples for process control and regulatory compliance for the Infrastructure Services department.
Essential Functions- Collects and analyzes W/WW samples for process control and regulatory compliance; conducts standard and specialized chemical and bacteriological tests on samples; operates specialized tools and equipment according to training and skill level; duties will vary according to job assignment.
- Follows lab procedures to assure the quality and accuracy of the laboratory tests; calibrates, operates, and maintains laboratory instruments; informs managers of anomalous test results and data trends.
- Cleans and maintains work areas, tools, and equipment, in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; maintains daily logs and records for regulatory compliance.
- Operates a city vehicle equipped with laboratory transport containers, field testing instruments, and safety equipment to collect and deliver specimens, conduct on-site assessments, and support field-based laboratory operations, ensuring proper handling, documentation, and compliance with safety and quality protocols.
- Must be able to work an on-call schedule when assigned and respond to calls within the department's designated response time.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- Supports the relationship between the City of Waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors, and City staff, maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information.
