The Site Security Manager is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and execution of site security operations for a large-scale construction project. This role ensures that security measures are effectively implemented and maintained to protect personnel, assets, and infrastructure in a dynamic, multi‑phase environment.
The Site Security Manager reports directly to IPI project leadership and serves as the primary on‑site authority for all security operations, ensuring alignment with project requirements and security plans.
Key Responsibilities- Provide day‑to‑day leadership and oversight of site security operations, ensuring a consistent and professional security presence across the project
- Supervise and manage contract guard force personnel, including scheduling, post orders, performance management, and accountability
- Serve as the primary point of contact for IPI leadership on all security‑related matters, providing regular updates on risk, incidents, and operational status
- Establish, implement, and manage site access control processes, including badging, credentialing, and workforce entry/exit procedures
- Develop and maintain a key control program, including issuance, tracking, auditing, and accountability of physical keys supporting site operations
- Ensure proper control of contractor, vendor, and visitor access, including verification, authorization, and adherence to site security requirements
- Oversee deployment and use of physical security measures such as fencing, lighting, cameras, and guard patrols to support site protection
- Coordinate with vendors and project teams to ensure security measures align with construction progress and operational needs
- Lead response to security incidents and emergencies, ensuring appropriate escalation, documentation, and resolution
- Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire, and emergency services as needed to support incident response and site preparedness
- Identify, assess, and mitigate security risks associated with construction activities, workforce scale, and evolving site conditions
- Enforce site security policies, procedures, and compliance requirements, ensuring adherence across all personnel on site
- Support reporting, audits, and continuous improvement efforts to strengthen the overall security program
- Assist in preparing the site for transition to long‑term operational security, including processes, controls, and staffing readiness
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in security operations, law enforcement, military, or related field with increasing levels of responsibility
- Demonstrated experience supervising guard force operations or managing police/security personnel in a leadership capacity
- Experience supporting large‑scale construction projects, industrial environments, or complex multi‑contractor sites
- Proven experience establishing and managing access control programs, including badging and key control systems
- Experience implementing physical security measures in environments where infrastructure is evolving
- Strong understanding of physical security principles and layered security strategies
- Working knowledge of access control systems and site entry/exit management processes
- Experience managing credentialing systems and physical key control programs
- Familiarity with security technologies such as cameras and monitoring systems as they support physical security operations
- Knowledge of emergency response procedures and coordination for large‑scale sites
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to manage teams, vendors, and stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment
- Sound judgment and decision‑making capability during incidents and high‑pressure situations
- Ability to operate independently while maintaining alignment with project leadership expectations
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear, concise updates to leadership and external partners
- Ability to stand, walk, and patrol large construction sites for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds as needed
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to respond quickly to incidents across a large and active site
- Experience supporting large infrastructure, energy, or data center construction projects
- Prior military or law enforcement supervisory experience
- Professional certifications such as PSP, CPP, or equivalent
