Senior Electrician – Job Description
The Senior Electrician is responsible for assisting in overseeing and performing electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs across the college campus. This role ensures that all electrical systems and equipment are functioning safely and efficiently while adhering to all codes and regulations.
Salary range: $27.66–$30.43 per hour. Final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Essential Functions- Core values: demonstrate excellence, accountability, service, and integrity in all interactions with stakeholders, customers, students, and community members.
- Maintenance and Repair: diagnose and repair electrical issues promptly to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- Installation: plan and execute the installation of new electrical systems and equipment.
- Safety and Compliance: conduct regular safety inspections and maintain up-to-date records of inspections and repairs.
- Building Access: enter occupied and unoccupied buildings with appropriate accompaniment.
- Emergency Response: assist in responding to electrical emergencies and outages to restore service as quickly as possible.
- Equipment Management: check out tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Vehicle Operation: operate state vehicles and equipment safely.
- Communication and
Collaboration:
coordinate with other departments to address facility needs and provide regular updates to supervisors. - Physical Exertion: perform physically demanding tasks requiring strength and frequent moderate lifting (30–60 lbs.) often in awkward positions.
- Additional Duties: perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Journeyman or master electrician license.
- Six years combined training in electrician trade, with four years holding an applicable license.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License and insurability under TSTC Liability Policy.
Physical effort and strength are required daily; tasks often involve awkward postures and moderate lifting.
Exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, and temperature extremes is regular.
Hazards are managed through safety precautions, with occasional exposure to minor hazards.
