Water Damage Specialist

As an Intermediate Water Restoration Technician, you will play a vital role in our water damage response team focused on residential and small commercial projects. This position is designed for professionals eager to advance their expertise in water and mold damage restoration. You will lead teams, ensuring compliance with IICRC standards, and operate equipment critical to the restoration process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow and execute instructions from your Supervisor diligently.
  • Guide teams in choosing and using appropriate PPE for various job tasks.
  • Review daily project requirements, document progress, and communicate updates along with any challenges faced.
  • Provide thorough documentation, including photos, charts, and sketches, for third‑party assessment projects.
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle safety, cleanliness, and operational readiness daily.
  • Exhibit keen attention to detail throughout all responsibilities.
  • Adhere strictly to BELFOR's standards to protect customer properties.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and awareness of relevant principles.
  • Effectively manage and organize multiple concurrent water damage projects within time constraints.
  • Be prepared for periodic travel and work during nights and weekends as required.
  • Accurately report work hours and resource usage on a timely basis.
  • Participate in operational and safety training offered by BELFOR.
Requirements
  • Supervise and perform basic water damage tasks efficiently.
  • Collect and upload images to job files regularly.
  • Maintain and operate equipment for debris removal, containment, and drying chambers successfully.
  • Identify Class 4 materials and employ effective techniques for drying and restoration.
  • Assess the integrity of affected structural materials and contents, comparing restoration costs with replacement expenses accurately.
  • Create moisture maps using provided tools and knowledge.
  • Lead small crew operations effectively on assigned tasks.
  • Adhere to additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Solid understanding of IICRC S500 Water Damage Standard.
  • Familiarity with IICRC S520 Mold Remediation Standard.
  • Possess a current IICRC WRT designation.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with BELFOR's Water Damage Book and procedures.
  • Proficient in using moisture meters, IR cameras, and understanding affected versus unaffected materials.
  • Ability to create sketches, interpret floor plans, complete moisture logs, and determine drying objectives.
  • Understand air mover calculations and dehumidification processes as they relate to electrical specifications.
  • Expertise in using Hydro Sensor, Thermal Hygrometers, or equivalent equipment for data collection.
  • Experience with truck‑mounted extraction systems, including maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • History of supervising small teams (up to 10 members) on both residential and commercial projects.
  • Must meet BELFOR's motor vehicle operation eligibility requirements.
  • Exhibit a strong sense of urgency, professionalism, a positive attitude, and a robust work ethic.
  • Fluent English language skills are essential.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent lifting of items over 50 lbs.
  • Occasional assistance with items over 41 lbs (up to 50% of the time).
  • Mobility in tight spaces is required.
  • Sustained standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling may be required.
  • Ability to utilize mobile devices for data collection and time tracking.
