JAG Aviation is a full-service Fixed Base Operator (FBO) located at McGregor Executive Airport, supporting pilots and privately owned piston and turbine aircraft with maintenance, avionics, fuel, and related services. Founded in 2001 by owners Gary and Janet Drapela, the company initially operated at Waco Regional Airport with a focus on maintenance and detailing. In 2014, JAG Aviation relocated to McGregor Executive Airport and expanded its offerings to include avionics installation and service, fueling, aircraft management, and convenience services.

Role Description

The Avionics Technician will perform day-to-day installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of avionics systems on piston and turbine aircraft. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and technical manuals, installing and configuring communication, navigation, and surveillance systems, and performing functional checks to ensure safety and compliance with applicable regulations. The technician will diagnose and troubleshoot system issues, document work performed, maintain accurate records, and coordinate with maintenance teams and pilots to address aircraft needs.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Waco, TX, requiring regular presence in the hangar and shop environment and collaboration with other technicians and service staff.

Qualifications
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems and avionics components used on piston and turbine aircraft.
  • Experience in aircraft maintenance, including inspection, installation, and system integration.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for identifying, diagnosing, and resolving avionics and electrical issues.
  • Hands‑on maintenance and repair skills, including use of standard aviation tools and test equipment.
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations and documentation practices related to avionics and aircraft maintenance.
  • Relevant technical training or certification in avionics, electronics, or aircraft maintenance (e.g., A&P license or equivalent experience preferred).
  • Attention to detail, safety‑focused mindset, and ability to work effectively in an on‑site team environment.
