Senior Electrician
The Senior Electrician is responsible for assisting in overseeing and performing electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs across the college campus. This role ensures that all electrical systems and equipment are functioning safely and efficiently while adhering to all codes and regulations. The Senior Electrician will assist in providing guidance to a team of electricians.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrate TSTC's core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity in all interactions with stakeholders, customers, students, and community members.
- Diagnose and repair electrical issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- Plan and execute the installation of new electrical systems and equipment.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain up-to-date records of inspections and repairs.
- Enter occupied and unoccupied buildings with appropriate accompaniment.
- Assist in responding to electrical emergencies and outages to restore service as quickly as possible.
- Check out tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Operate state vehicles and equipment safely.
- Coordinate with other departments to address facility needs while providing regular updates to their supervisor.
- Perform physically demanding tasks requiring strength and frequent moderate lifting (30-60 lbs.), often in awkward positions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Journeyman or master license.
- Six years combined training in electrician trade, 4 years with applicable license.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Valid Texas Driver's License and insurability under TSTC Liability Policy.
Working Conditions:
- Significant physical effort and strength required daily, often involving awkward postures and moderate lifting.
- Regular exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, and temperature extremes.
- Occasional exposure to minor hazards controlled by safety precautions.
