Handyman or Craftsman Part Time Moonlighter
Are you a skilled DIYer, a firefighter with days off to fill, a craftsperson transitioning into a more flexible schedule, or simply someone who loves working with their hands? We are looking for a part-time Craftsman / Handyman to help residential and light commercial customers in the Waco area with their home repair and improvement needs.
This role is designed for those who want to use their trade skills without the hassle of running a business. You do not have to worry about marketing, bidding, scheduling, or chasing down payments. Our office team handles all the logistics and customer service, so you can focus entirely on doing clean, high-quality work and helping people in your local community.
WhatSuccess Looks Like
On a day-to-day basis, you will travel to scheduled jobs in the Waco area, assess the customer's needs, and complete a variety of small to medium home repairs. Tasks typically range from drywall patch-ups and door adjustments to light carpentry, minor plumbing, and electrical fixture replacements.
Over time, success in this role means:
- Completing projects efficiently and safely, leaving every job site cleaner than you found it.
- Building trust with local homeowners through clear communication and respectful service.
- Maintaining a consistent standard of workmanship that keeps customers asking for you by name.
- Proven hands-on experience: Practical knowledge of general home maintenance, carpentry, drywall, painting, and basic plumbing or electrical work.
- Your own tools: A reliable set of hand and power tools fit for standard home repair tasks.
- Reliable transportation: A dependable vehicle capable of transporting your tools to various job sites.
- Strong communication skills: The ability to explain repair options clearly to homeowners and coordinate effectively with our dispatch team.
- Background check: A valid driver's license and the ability to pass a standard background check.
- Prior professional experience in residential remodeling, facility maintenance, or a specific trade.
- Advanced skills in specialty areas like tile installation, deck repair, or finish carpentry.
We respect your time and your expertise. This position offers a unique level of control over your schedule:
- Flexible hours: We work with your availability. Whether you want to pick up a few shifts on your off-days, work around a primary shift schedule, or keep active during your retirement years, we can make it work.
- Independence: You will work independently on-site, managed by your own schedule and supported by our backend team.
- Local focus: All jobs are located within the Waco area, keeping your commute manageable.
- W-2 employment: You are a protected employee, not an independent contractor. We cover worker's comp and liability insurance.
