DescriptionThe Undercarriage Shop Technician 1, performs basic to moderate diagnosis and repairs on heavy construction equipment undercarriage in a shop environment. The hours for this position are Monday Through Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We are located at 1700 W. Loop 340, Waco, TX 76712.
The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis:

- Personally models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission Statement.
- Performs basic repairs on equipment undercarriage and undercarriage components.
- Operates undercarriage build-up and rebuild machines, and all tooling and machines used in undercarriage rebuilding.
- Assists in disassembling, cleaning, inspections, repairs, and assembling undercarriage components.
- Assists in evaluating, measuring, and monitoring of undercarriage conditions.
- Works as a member of a team to provide basic technical and mechanical services that satisfies customer needs and achieves departmental goals.
- Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs.
- Assists in preparing service reports and any other necessary paperwork.
- Maintains all company equipment, tools, and work areas in a good, clean, and working order.
- Performs and completes all tasks with direct supervision.
- Provides assistance to other Undercarriage Technicians to perform larger jobs.
- Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Requires regular and punctual employee attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
- Knowledge with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems. CAT ET and CAT SIS 2.0
- Excellent work habits, accuracy, attention to detail, and quality of work.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic torch and welding ability a plus but not required.
- Time management skills.
- Ability to develop technical skills.

- Ability to follow manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines to ensure quality work.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment.

- Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
- Ability to read, write, and understand information.
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Education and Experience:
- Technical schooling preferred
- 1+ years of heavy construction equipment repair experience preferred
Additional Requirements:
- Must own basic tools to perform the job
- Must complete V.B.L. and DISC classes prior to promoting to Tech 2

- Up to 10% travel may be required.
Physical Requirements:
- Significant amount of time standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing, and reaching
- Constant movement and use of hands, this position requires good manual dexterity.
- Communicates with customers, service managers, and co-workers.
- Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.
- Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
- Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment.
- Frequently lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 80 lb.
- Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment.
Work Environment:
- Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment.
- Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity.
