Support Services Coordinator
Provide additional support services for students who are at risk of failure due to poor academic performance, high absenteeism, dropout, pregnancy, limited English proficiency and/or gang-related activity. Provide intervention measures to prevent students from entering a Juvenile Justice system as well reintegration support to students returning from a Juvenile Justice system to deter recidivism. Extra-curricular activities often motivate these students to remain in school, but also cause some to fall behind.
A portion of the day will be to monitor their academic success of at-risk students participating in extra-curricular activities and provide interventions as needed.
Education/Certification:
Professional degree from an accredited university
Social Work/Counseling experience
Preferred bilingual
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
Ability to work with at-risk students
Ability to provide one to one and group counseling to students
Ability to coordinate with appropriate staff to deliver intervention services to student
Ability to maintain documentation of services provided to students
Ability to efficiently manage time for tasks and student case loads
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work with a team
Ability to efficiently use Microsoft technology applications (word, excel, publisher, etc.)
Strong organizational, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills
Has worked with at-risk teenage students, preferably in a school setting
Has a strong understanding of implementing mental health and behavioral supports
Preferred 3-5 years experience
