This is an experienced, professional developer who executes programming tasks cleanly and efficiently while keeping team members and stakeholders informed. Candidates succeed by writing clean, effective code with minimal oversight, cooperating with the team and stakeholders, seeking guidance from seasoned developers, and offering mentorship to entry-level developers.

Complete all training and assignments in a timely and effective manner.

Apply departmental standards and procedures to all assignments.

Adhere to all defined processes and procedures.

Effectively communicate with appropriate personnel.

Manage multiple projects and requests simultaneously.

Function effectively as a team lead.

Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.

Escalate problems to appropriate personnel, as needed.

Provide overview training to end users.

Strong understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives

Write, test, document, debug, and maintain computer programs with minimal oversight.

Execute specifications as detailed by other team members and project stakeholders.

Design advanced application components.

Write clean, well-documented and well-performing code. Support entry-level developers to do the same.

Troubleshoot application program malfunctions.

Estimate task effort and build work breakdowns of tasks.

Follow established practices for project tracking and code quality, and communicate those practices to entry-level developers.

Conduct demonstrations of code for team members and stakeholders.

Provide production support whenever needed, including log analysis.

Advanced use of a version control system.

Construct, build, and deploy pipelines for senior team members to evaluate.

Other duties as assigned.

At least one of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school, preferably in a computer or technical-related field and proven object-oriented programming experience.
• Associate degree from an accredited school, preferably in a computer or technical related field, and substantial object-oriented programming experience.

Programming language knowledge:

• Advanced object-oriented programming skills
• Familiarity with web-services preferred
• Proven experience with source-control system preferred

Excellent problem-solving abilities.

Ability and willingness to learn and extend skills.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills.

Certifications in a development and/or project management capability preferred.

Strong knowledge of and experience in the insurance industry preferred.

Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software required for this job.

Use of PC, telephone, copy machine, fax, and other office equipment over six (6) hours per day.

Extended periods of sitting and concentration.

Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and moving items weighing up to 30 lbs.

Occasional long, irregular hours.

Occasional travel by auto or other public transportation.

Work to be conducted in office environment owned or leased by company.
