Traffic Control Driver/Helper – Waco, TX

Scope of Job (Driver)

The Driver is responsible for executing work orders in a timely manner and communicating with the customers.

Job Responsibilities (Driver)
  • Perform stretch and flex exercises.
  • Report to Dispatch to receive orders for the day.
  • Contact customers to verify deliveries are scheduled as specified.
  • Pull and load trucks as work order requires.
  • Ensure loads are correctly strapped.
  • Deliver equipment and set up work orders based on TXDOT and/or MUTCD standards.
  • Obtain work order signed upon completion.
  • Report signed work order to Dispatch for additional daily tasks.
  • Fill work trucks with fuel.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work trucks.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Driver)
  • Comprehend and perform all daily tasks.
  • Work under pressure.
  • Collaboration with different crew members.
  • Operate on high‑speed roads.
  • Read traffic control plans.
  • Communicate with customers professionally.
Education and Experience (Driver)
  • High school degree or equivalent education/experience.
Physical Requirements (Driver)
  • Light industrial work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move, transport, install, and remove objects.
  • Visual acuity constantly required to operate machines, equipment, and/or motor vehicles, perform mechanical or skilled trade tasks, and ensure accuracy and thoroughness of assigned work.
  • Frequently exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions without effective protection from weather.
  • Occasionally subject to hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or chemicals, or working in narrow aisles or passageways.
  • Occasionally subject to noise requiring employee to shout to be heard.
  • Occasionally communicate with customers and employees in other departments; must exchange accurate information verbally and in writing.
Scope of Job (Helper)

The Field Helper assists Drivers to execute work orders in a timely manner.

Job Responsibilities (Helper)
  • Perform stretch and flex exercises.
  • Report to Dispatch to receive team member information.
  • Help Driver pull and load trucks as work order specifies.
  • Ensure trucks are correctly loaded.
  • Assist Driver in delivering and setting up work orders based on TXDOT and/or MUTCD standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work trucks.
  • Train with Drivers to acquire the skills required for the Driver position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Helper)
  • Comprehend and perform all daily tasks.
  • Work under pressure.
