Medical Technologist & Lab Technician
Purpose of Job
This position is responsible for serving both internal and external customers by performing a variety of laboratory procedures in accordance with Ridgeview Medical Center philosophy, policies and procedures and in accordance with all regulatory agencies. Focus areas include: POC, Automated Chemistry, Immuno-Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Urinalysis, Blood Banking, and Microbiology.
Job Functions- Associate's degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Clinical Laboratory Technician from an accredited school. May also have a certificate if grandfathered according to CLIA

- Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
- Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
- Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
- Ability to work autonomously and as a team
- Certified or Certification eligible as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology board of registry or as a Clinical Laboratory Technician by the National Certification Agency for Medical Laboratory Personnel or equivalent per CLIA standards. Certification must be completed by the first year of employment and kept current according to ASCP standards.

Minimum Education /Work Experience/License/Certifications- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science
- Certified as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Technologist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology board of registry per CLIA standards. Certification must be completed by the first year of employment and kept current according to ASCP standards
- Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
- Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Ability to maintain technical competence
- Ability to work autonomously and as a team
- Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above

- 2 years of experience in technical supervision of a laboratory testing department
- Previous Point of Care experience
