NEPA Project Manager Overview
As a NEPA Project Manager for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in our Ecological Practice at the Greenville, SC office, you'll serve as a key member of our Environmental Planning team, supporting a wide range of projects through technical writing and environmental analysis. You'll prepare NEPA documentation and contribute to environmental planning efforts while also supporting field assessments as part of our broader ecological services.
You'll work across multidisciplinary teams, contributing to projects that include wetland and stream assessments, permitting, endangered species surveys, and ecosystem restoration, ensuring high-quality deliverables and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare NEPA documentation, including environmental assessments (EAs) and environmental impact statements (EISs), ensuring clarity, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct environmental analyses and coordinate with technical specialists to support multidisciplinary project delivery.
- Perform field assessments, including wetland and stream delineations, habitat evaluations, and ecological surveys.
- Support permitting efforts, including Section 401/404 applications and other environmental regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather data, develop reports, and meet project objectives.
- Ensure quality assurance/quality control of technical documents and deliverables.
- Assist with client interaction and contribute to business development efforts over time, with mentorship and support from senior staff.
- 5+ years of experience in environmental planning and navigating the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process.
- Experience preparing technical reports and environmental impact evaluations to support regulatory compliance.
- Experience managing project resources and coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Experience working with state and federal regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration.
- Experience conducting natural resource delineations and assessments, including wetlands, water bodies, and threatened and endangered species habitat.
- Experience supporting natural resource permitting efforts, including Clean Water Act Sections 401 and 404 and applicable state or local permits.
