AMRT Thermal Spray Coatings & Surface Preparation Technical Leader
The AMRT Thermal Spray Coatings & Surface Preparation Technical Leader is responsible for providing technical leadership for a team focused on the development, industrialization, and execution of thermal spray coating technologies and surface preparation processes supporting gas turbine applications. This role will lead the team technically across a portfolio of technology development, productivity, quality, and implementation projects, while partnering closely with manufacturing, services, design, systems, and global engineering organizations.
This individual will play a critical role in driving standardized and robust global processes, supporting both services and new repair introduction (NRI) needs, and enabling business growth through process capability development and deployment.
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in thermal spray technology and equipment, strong project management skills, and a solid understanding of gas turbine hardware and repair/manufacturing environments.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or related technical discipline.
- 8+ years technical experience in thermal spray coatings and surface prep technology, including process fundamentals, application methods, and associated equipment.
- Willingness and ability to travel 10-15% per year to support global locations and service centers.
Desired Characteristics:
- Strong project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead technical programs and drive projects to completion.
- Knowledge of gas turbine hardware, including component function, materials, and repair/manufacturing considerations.
- Advanced experience in thermal spray technology development and industrial implementation.
- Experience in manufacturing or component repair for industrial gas turbines.
- Strong materials and metallurgical background, especially related to coatings, bond strength, substrate condition, and process interactions.
- Familiarity with manufacturing and repair processes for gas turbine components.
- Knowledge of operational practices in GE Vernova manufacturing or service facilities.
- Experience with coating equipment selection, qualification, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic technology development with day-to-day execution support.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across technical teams, leadership, and external partners.
- Proven ability to lead through influence, provide clear technical direction, and build alignment across stakeholders.
- Effective mentor who supports technical development and fosters a strong, collaborative team environment.
- Understands business objectives and translates them into actionable technical priorities.
- Anticipates internal and external customer needs and works proactively to meet them.
- Measures process success through the lens of safety, quality, delivery, and customer impact.
