Hybrid, onsite minimum 2 days / week in Wadsworth, Ohio.
Reports to: Innovation Manager
Role OverviewA newly created role, the Industrial Designer (Product Designer & CAD Specialist) will support the full product development lifecycle by transforming early concepts into detailed CAD models, illustrations, and prototype-ready files. This role collaborates closely with Innovation, Engineering, and QC to execute high-quality design work that accelerates new product development. This role will contribute to modeling, prototyping, visualization, and technical documentation to ensure concepts move efficiently toward prototyping and commercialization.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with light research (competitive scans, insights, tech constraints) to help frame design directions.
- Participate actively in ideation sessions, providing visual and technical design support.
- Develop sketches, storyboards, renderings, and concept visualizations to communicate product intent.
- Create and refine CAD models, 2D drawings, and 3D assemblies to support active product development.
- Translate early concepts into feasible, manufacturable design directions through collaboration with Innovation and Engineering teams.
- Support prototype creation through file prep, rapid iteration, and troubleshooting during build phases.
- Update and revise models, drawings, and specs based on feedback across Innovation, Ops, Marketing, Engineering and QC.
- Partner closely with the Plant Engineer to offload modeling tasks and accelerate engineering throughput.
- 2-5 years in Industrial Design, Product Design, or CAD-focused Mechanical Design.
- Experience in consumer products or manufacturing environments preferred
- Proven ability to translate early concepts into detailed, manufacturable designs and work within cross-functional product development teams
- Bachelors degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and iteration
- Strong concept visualization (sketching, storyboarding, rendering)
- Advanced 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawing creation
