Materials Engineer, Research Scientist
As a Scientist Staff, you will support the Global Metrology team contributing to advance analytical science by performing precise testing and in-depth analysis of tire-related materials. You will also evaluate raw materials and finished tire products to ensure quality, performance, and innovation. This role is pivotal in driving data-driven insights that support global standards and enhance product reliability across the tire industry.
WhatYou ll Do
Develop and enhance analytical testing methods for tire-related materials using advanced instrumentation.
Identify opportunities for technological improvement and design experimental plans to achieve them.
Oversee development and routine maintenance of analytical equipment.
Provide analytical support for research, development, and plant operations.
Maintain testing methods and coach team members on proper application / analytical practices.
Collaborate with customers to deliver technical solutions from an analytical perspective.
Conduct material evaluations, including raw material analysis and compound reformulation.
Document and update testing procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Manage projects involving laboratory evaluation, material testing, and procedure development.
Ensure proper documentation of test specifications, guidelines, and audit analytical methods.
Master s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related field with 2+ years of experience.
Hands‑on experience with analytical instrumentation, including theory and application for tire materials.
Strong knowledge of chromatography, spectroscopy, and other analytical techniques.
Ph.D. in the same fields with graduate research or similar experience.
Ability to collaborate and integrate effectively with colleagues across multiple functional areas.
Skilled at managing priorities and adjusting to changing requirements.
