Responsibilities

• Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to determine welding procedures and specifications
• Perform a variety of welding techniques including MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), FCAW, and SMAW (stick welding) on different metal materials such as sheet metal and structural components
• Use measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and shop math to ensure precise measurements and proper fit-up of parts before welding
• Operate power tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment safely to prepare materials for welding or fabrication processes
• Assemble fabricated components according to mechanical blueprints, ensuring alignment with AWS (American Welding Society) standards and safety protocols
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment while adhering to all safety guidelines related to welding, cutting, and handling metal materials
• Conduct quality inspections on completed welds using measuring instruments and visual checks to verify strength, accuracy, and compliance with specifications

Requirements

• Proven experience working in fabrication shops with a solid understanding of mechanical fabrication processes
• Proficiency in multiple welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding (GMAW)
• Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools for quality control
• Mechanical knowledge of metal materials including sheet metal fabrication and structural components
• Experience with shop math necessary for measurements, calculations, and assembly procedures
• Knowledge of safety protocols related to welding operations
• Strong mechanical aptitude combined with the ability to operate hand tools and power tools efficiently
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in while maintaining attention to detail
