Responsibilities

  • Continuous improvement and reliability of utility systems (steam generation, industrial water treatment, cooling towers, compressed air).
  • Monitor performance of utility systems to meet production demands and safety and environmental standards.
  • Maintain water and air discharge parameters within environmental limits.
  • Assist with utility infrastructure upgrades from conceptual design through commissioning.
  • Promote a culture of safety and integrate safety concepts into process design.
  • Establish design criteria, incorporate client requirements, and produce design basis that meets applicable state, local, federal standards and codes.
  • Ensure permitting requirements are identified, established, and communicated to the project team.
  • Advise the Lead Engineer on potential design or scope changes.
  • Delegate work to engineers and designers, follow up to ensure quality and efficient progress.
  • Consult with design leaders from other disciplines for interdisciplinary alignment.
  • Produce estimate‑level preliminary designs, material take‑offs, and cost studies as needed.
  • Generate detailed design calculations and drawings, prepare for efficient checking.
  • Ensure designs emphasize ease of construction, operability, and maintenance.
  • Check calculations, reports, and studies for accuracy, code compliance, and good engineering practice.
  • Produce equipment and construction specifications; monitor drawings in progress.
  • Resolve routine layout and detailing problems with designers.
  • Review vendor information, submittals, and fabrication drawings for conformance to engineering drawings.
  • Develop bid packages, participate in pre‑bid meetings, client presentations, scope reviews, and proposal development.
  • Travel as required for client presentations, project tasks, and training opportunities.
  • Mentor less experienced process engineers and support interoffice execution.
Education
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Biochemical, or Petroleum Engineering from an accredited university (required).
  • Professional Engineering registration or CPIP certification preferred.
Experience
  • 3+ years of relevant industrial experience in chemical, petroleum, or biochemical process design engineering.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Safety‑driven culture and application of safety concepts in design.
  • Basic knowledge of process engineering and related computer programs.
  • Familiarity with equipment, instrumentation, and piping specifications and installation details.
  • Ability to create accurate process engineering documents from vendor data and drawings.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD or Micro Station). Knowledge of hydraulic simulation software (AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, PIPEPHASE, PIPE‑FLO, SiNet) and process simulation software (Aspen Plus, Aspen Plus Dynamics, PRO/II, DYNSIM, HYSYS, CHEMCAD, WinGEMS, Pro Max) preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Virtual team collaboration and cross‑divisional relationship building.
