About the Department

The Wagoner County Sheriff's Office is committed to providing world-class public safety with Honor, Integrity, and Professionalism. The Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office offers a variety of law enforcement opportunities in areas that include:
Court House Security, Service on federal and tribal task forces, Inmate transport, Community programs, Investigations, K-9 Patrol, and many other opportunities. The duties of a Deputy Sheriff are mandated by federal, state, county, and agency regulations. The job requires that applications be able to perform a variety of basic deputy sheriff duties in the field of law enforcement.

Note:

The Deputy Sheriff position currently works in 12-hour shifts.

Duties

  • Takes appropriate action in emergency situations in accordance with established policies.
  • Serves warrants and makes arrests.
  • Maintains order in any assigned courtroom and on the premises of the Detention Center and provides security from disruption and violence.
  • Executes and returns civil and criminal process.
  • Gives testimony in court on actions taken during arrests and investigations in criminal matters.
  • Transports, by vehicle, inmates, and other individuals in custody.
  • Performs routine law enforcement duties as required (e.g., traffic enforcement, accident response and investigation, criminal investigations, etc.)
  • Maintains complete and accurate records and prepares clear and concise reports.
