The Dispatcher plays a crucial role in coordinating and managing the flow of information between various departments and receives emergency and non - emergency re qu es t s forresponseviaradio, te l epho n e and computer-aided d is pat chsyste m s, det ermines pr ior i t ies , d ispatch es l aw en for cement and other e m e r ge ncyunit s, and maintains clo se contact with fie ldunitstomonitor responseprogressandanyneededsupport requ i r emen t s ensuring that all operations run smoothly and efficiently.

• Makes inquiries of various s ource s toobtain requ este d in for mati on or services byphoneor co mpute r automatedcommunicati o n equ i pment;
• Dispatch e s the ass i gnm en t of f i eld unit s andro ut es them to th escene of emergency situ a t ions;
• Cr eates and maintains auto mat ed and/or manual record s ofpubl i c safetycommun ic ations activitie s ;
• Mai nt a i n s appropriate security andconf i denti a lity of information cre a ted or enco unter e d inth e pe rforma nce of ass igneddut i es;

  Federal Communications Commission covering  the operation of radioreceiversand transmitters;
• Effectiveverbalcommunicationstechniques, particularly for communicating withother par t ies under s tress;
• The proper use andcareof radio and telephone equipment;
• Geography of Wagoner County , locationsoftowns,citiesand communities, major and minor roadways/highways, andlikeinformation.

• Handlingsituationsfirmly,courteously,tactful l y , and impartially;
• Operating rad io, telephone, k eyboard, computertermin a l , and relatedcommunicat i ons equipment;
• Creating and maintaining manualandautomated l ogs andother records of public safety communications activities;

Licenses and Certifications : All positions in t h i s classification r e quire attaining andmaintainingaccess certifications by the Sheriff'sDepartment,stateandfederalagenciesforcriminal history databasesandassociated co mmunications systems.

Failuretoobta in /ma int ain suc h certifications may be grounds for termination.
