About the Role:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Med-Surg department at Wagoner Community Hospital plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care. This position involves monitoring patients' health status, administering medications, and assisting with daily living activities to ensure optimal recovery. The LPN will collaborate closely with registered nurses and physicians to implement care plans and provide support to patients and their families.

Additionally, the LPN will maintain accurate patient records and contribute to a safe and efficient healthcare environment. Ultimately, the LPN's efforts will directly impact patient outcomes and satisfaction within the hospital setting.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid LPN license in the state of Oklahoma.
  • Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a Med-Surg setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care, including administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Monitor and document patients' vital signs, symptoms, and overall health status.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families on health management and post-discharge care.

Skills:

The required skills for this role include strong clinical assessment abilities, which are essential for monitoring patient conditions and recognizing changes that may require immediate attention. Effective communication skills are vital for collaborating with the healthcare team and educating patients and their families about care plans. Time management skills will be utilized daily to prioritize tasks and ensure that all patients receive timely care.

Additionally, proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems is necessary for accurate documentation and information sharing. Preferred skills, such as bilingual communication, will enhance patient interactions and improve overall patient satisfaction.
