Qualifications & Competencies

Applicants must demonstrate experience that evidences the following four competencies:

• Attention to Detail – Gather facts and use effective analytical and evaluative methods to assess information, plan the sequence of actions, make sound decisions, and solve a variety of software problems.
• Customer Service – Provide ongoing technical support to customers and/or operators to ensure proper functional use of equipment and programs, preventing interruptions to IT and communications services.
• Oral Communication – Express information clearly to individuals or groups, considering audience and information nature; provide clear and convincing oral presentations, listen, attend to nonverbal cues, and respond appropriately.
• Problem Solving – Identify problems, assess accuracy and relevance of information, use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations, including installing solutions and upgrades to ensure availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of assigned systems.

Experience related to troubleshooting, system auditing, security assessment, and resolving complex technical problems involving system compatibility, interoperability, circuits, switches, and networking is also valued.

This position is within the Work Category PROFESSIONAL at Work Level FULL‑PERFORMANCE, Series GG–2210, and Grade GG‑2210‑12.

Experience may include paid, unpaid, or volunteer work. Volunteer work through National Service programs may be considered valuable for building critical competencies.
