Material Expediter (Lead) – U.S. Army Equipment Turn-In Site (Contractor)

The Material Expediter coordinates the movement, staging, and prioritization of Army equipment and materiel during the turn-in process at a contractor-managed site. This position ensures timely workflow between receiving, inspection, warehousing, and transportation operations while maintaining compliance with Army supply regulations, technical manuals, and contract requirements. The Material Expediter plays a critical role in reducing processing delays and supporting property accountability by ensuring equipment flows efficiently through the turn-in cycle.

Responsibilities

Material Flow & Coordination

  • Expedite the movement of vehicles, equipment, and Class IX repair parts from receiving to inspection, staging, and warehousing areas.
  • Monitor and prioritize items requiring immediate attention or special handling (e.g., hazardous, sensitive, or controlled items).
  • Ensure equipment is staged properly for inspection, accountability, or outbound shipment.

Documentation & Tracking

  • Verify that turn-in documents (DA Form 1348-1A, DD Form 200, condition codes) match the items being processed.
  • Track movement status of materiel and update logs, spreadsheets, or Army systems (GCSS-Army, DPAS, LMP) as required.
  • Report discrepancies in documentation, property records, or shipment status to supervisors.

Coordination with Supply & Transportation Teams

  • Work closely with Supply Technicians, Warehouse Specialists, Transportation Coordinators, and Quality Control staff to ensure smooth equipment flow.
  • Communicate with Army unit personnel to resolve delays or issues during mass turn-ins.
  • Support outbound shipping requirements by ensuring materiel is staged, packaged, and ready for loading.

Inventory & Accountability Support

  • Assist in reconciling shortages, overages, or mismatches in equipment turn-ins.
  • Participate in cyclic inventories, spot checks, and property accountability reviews (PARs).
  • Ensure items are properly tagged, labeled, and condition-coded before storage or shipment.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure safe movement of materiel using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
  • Comply with OSHA, Army, and company safety standards during staging and handling.
  • Follow environmental standards for HAZMAT handling, packaging, and disposal.
