Position: CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST SUPERVISOR - DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS AND REHABILITATION - STATEWIDE

The current vacancies are as follows:

  • Downtown, Oahu - Mental Health Branch, Health Care Division
  • Kauai Community Correctional Center (Lihue)
  • Maui Community Correctional Center (Wailuku)

Salary: $7,351 to $15,639 per month (LHA2 - Minimum to Maximum)

Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.

This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants to fill the current vacancy and will be used to fill future vacancies as they occur, both permanent full-time and temporary full-time positions.

Note: Employees appointed to temporary positions may also gain membership in the civil service upon satisfactory completion of an initial probation period of at least six months. Once you become a member of the civil service, you become eligible to apply for promotion and transfer opportunities to permanent as well as other temporary positions. You may also enjoy other rights and benefits afforded to an employee in a permanent position with the exception of return rights and placement rights associated with a reduction-in-force.

Position responsibilities: Positions perform work as a supervisor over other clinical psychologists and other multidisciplinary professional staff; serving as chief psychologist or program director of a program of psychological services. This responsibility may also include work performing psychotherapy, consultation, and work in prevention, education, training and/or research; or may include work as an expert consultant.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Legal Authorization to Work:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

Education/General Requirement: Applicants must possess the requirements specified in either A, B, C, D, or E below:

  • A. Successful completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree from an accredited college in clinical psychology which included an internship in clinical psychology. In lieu of the internship requirement, applicants may substitute one year of professional work experience in the field of clinical psychology.
  • B. Successful completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree from an accredited college in a specialty related to clinical psychology. The doctoral program must have included an internship in clinical psychology or must have been supplemented by a post-doctoral clinical internship. In lieu of the clinical internship requirement, applicants may substitute one year of post-doctoral clinical psychology experience under competent professional supervision.
  • C. Holds a doctoral degree from a training program approved by the American Psychological Association (APA), or holds a doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education and also meets the experiential requirements for inclusion in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology, as described in Chapter 465, HRS.
  • D. Holds a diplomate certificate in good standing granted by the American Board of Examiners in Professional Psychology, as described in Chapter 465, HRS.
  • E. A valid license to practice psychology in the State of Hawaii, as described in Chapter 465, HRS.

Supervisory

Skills:

Plans, assigns, directs, and evaluates the work of others; provides counseling and discipline as necessary

Experience: For some positions, applicants must possess professional post-doctoral work experience as a clinical psychologist. In addition, some positions may require experience in a specialized field of clinical psychology.

License:
A. Within two (2) years from the date of appointment, applicant(s) hired must meet the requirements for licensure and obtain a license issued by the Hawaii State Board of Psychology, as required…
